The University of Maine Graduate Workers Union – UAW is an organization by, of, and for graduate student workers who want to improve our teaching, research, and employment conditions across the UMaine System. Our work as Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, and Graduate Assistants not only benefits the University of Maine System and the state of Maine, but also has positive impacts worldwide. We work in many different fields and have varied experiences, but our dedication to teaching and research unites us all.

The success of our union depends on the dedication and commitment of workers to take action in support of what we want to see changed. Our union can win improvements like higher wages, better healthcare, real recourse for graduate worker grievances, and more, so long as UMaine graduate workers are united in our organizing and our demands for change! By building a strong graduate worker union we also build a sense of community and camaraderie both at work and in our personal lives.
